The self-cleaning Wear-Bow resists wear naturally! By design, material flowing through the Wear-Bow (Fig 1) accumulates in the 'pocket' or impact zone and moves slowly upward and out. Incoming material is deflected at 90 degrees (Fig 2), with minimum resistance and no impact damage. The Wear-Bow then self-cleans as material no longer enters the flow path (Fig 3). This design eliminates the problem inherent to typical elbows, where the high friction of the material passing over the outer wall causes unnecessary wear and reduces the overall life of the elbow. Wear-=Bow requires the material to air-flow ratio to not be below 3:1. | |

The Figure to the left depicts three Wear-Bow installations on a silo. Note how the orientation of the Wear-Bow can vary and that the space required is far less that what would be required for a standard radius elbow. This adds to the versatility and overall use of the Wear-Bow since it can be used in a greater number of applications. | |
